Exhibition: when you know that the work you are creating in a project will be displayed publicly, this changes the nature of the project from the moment you start working – because you know you will need to literally ‘stand by’ the work, under scrutiny and questioning from family, friends and total strangers.
|
Multiple drafts: with an aim of excellence and the knowledge that it will be presented to an authentic audience, you will be given the opportunity to perfect your work through many drafts and forms of feedback.
|
Critique: You will receive regular and ongoing feedback from several sources. You will work as part of a team, and teams will have the regular opportunity to critique each other’s work; teachers will give regular feedback to teams and individuals; and everyone will have individual blogs where we will diarise our work, set and reflect upon our goals and receive ‘in time’ feedback from family and friends.

Do you know an expert? |
A key notion behind this program will be that ‘we are all learners and we are all teachers. Parents, grandparents, friends and experts will be strongly encouraged to participate on a regular basis to the education of your children. We no longer believe that the teacher is the ‘sage on the stage’ whose job it is to impart wisdom to our students and students will be strongly encouraged to learn from a variety of sources including experts, the internet and each other.

Project Planner |
A lot of what comes out of this term will be driven by student research, discussions, collaboration and feedback.
We will explicitly teach some parts of the curriculum that are not easily embedded into our projects, but most learning will occur as the result of what students want to learn about. |
